Queens Award For International Trade 2009

Metals UK joins the business elite: Metals UK, an international specialist metal service centre based in Blackburn, have been honoured with the Queens Award for Enterprise 2009, for outstanding achievement in international trade.

The Queens award for enterprise is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a British company and is the UK's top award for business performance.

Over the past 3 years Metals UK's export earnings have increased by a dramatic 412%, as the company has strengthened its position in international markets, currently supplying over 40 countries in Europe, the Americas, the middle and Far East, India and Australia.

"We are delighted to receive our first Queens Award" Said Robert Whitehouse, Metals UK General Manager, "4 years ago our business was purely domestic, while today business from International clients has rose to 50%, the markets we compete in are very aggressive and it is difficult to truly differentiate our offering from that of our competitors. Winning this award in the current economic climate is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and makes me extremely proud to be part of the business"

Metals UK supplies a wide range of Duplex, Super Duplex, Nickel Alloys and Stainless Steel to the offshore, oil and gas, chemical, nuclear and aerospace industries. The company also offers full cutting and added value processing capabilities in house, including Laser, Water-Jet, Plasma and Hi-definition Plasma With more than £5,000,000 invested in inventory in Blackburn and a further $250million available from their parent company AM Castle and Co in the USA, Metals UK's strength and breadth of inventory offering is second to none, their highly experienced staff offer a personal consultancy service; each customer is supported from initial enquiry to delivery, something which sets Metals apart from their competitors.

This achievement follows a winning year for Metals UK, after securing new markets in Eastern Europe, Greece, Slovakia and Poland they were presented with the 'Increased Export Sales' award from the Chamber of Commerce in December 2008. The Queens award further secures Metals' excellent exporting form and the company is delighted with their success.

Today's award winners have been announced to mark her majesty The Queen's birthday. Metals UK's award will be formally conferred later in the year.

Metals UK win at the International Trade Club Awards

2008 has been a strong year for export at Metals UK and on Friday our success was commended by the 'Chamber Of Commerce'. This year we have secured our place as major players in the Eastern European league, making our debut in new countries including Greece and Slovakia and developing our game in the Polish market.

In recognition of our success the Chamber Of Commerce presented us with the award for 'Increase In Export Sales'.

New for 2007: Ni Alloys 600 & 825

As part of our continued investment Metals UK are delighted to announce that a full stock range of Nickel Alloys 600 and 825 in sheet and plate up to and including 50mm thick will be available from May 2007.

Metals Group Ltd invests further GBP £1.5 Million in new processing equipment

Metals Group Ltd through its subsidiaries Metals UK, Metals Group Inc, E.Harding & Sons, LOKS Plasma, KKS and AMESA have invested a further £1.5M in new processing plant. New Laser, Water Jet, 2 Plasma's, 4 Bar Saws and new 6 Axis Brake Press facilities feature among the investments.Ian Griffiths Group CEO said "Like a lot of people in our industry 2006 has been a very strong year for our company. Our commitment to provide world class, world wide processed speciality metals remains at the core of everything we do. In addition we are adding to our product range offering Nickel Alloys 400, 600 and 825 arriving into our inventories bringing our total range of Alloys inventoried to 21. These investments along with our new businesses in the USA, Spain and India give us the footprint to realize our 2010 vision of €100M in revenues"

New Horizon's

After months of deliberation it has been confirmed that Metals UK Limited are broadening their horizons. Teaming up with like minded company MetalTech Service Centre in Houston, Texas, Metals Group Inc has been formed and is another arm to the rapidly expanding Metals Group of companies. Rob Pattenden, Business Development Director says "Having a strong presence in the UK and Europe, particularly now we have opened our Spanish warehouse in Bilbao, America was the next logical step for us representing a market with rapid growth potential. Teaming up with Metaltech Service Centre we have a great opportunity to build our worldwide presence and to further concrete our ambitions of being a worldwide supplier of choice "Metals Group Inc will be offering Duplex, Super Duplex and Ni Alloys and have heavily invested in stock that will be available on the ground in Houston from October 06. Size Matters for Metals UK!

After announcing back in April that new premises had been sourced, Metals UK were forced back to the drawing board.

Ian Griffiths CEO: "We were so close; the contracts were hours away from being signed."

Originally the plan was to take a 30,000 sq ft size facility in Heywood Manchester but new aerospace team Lee Nicklin, Asier Gonzales and Matt O'Garr were certain the company would need more space.
" They forced us to reconsider our needs and it became clear that we had underestimated our requirement for space."

The deal is now done and Metals UK get the keys to their new 40,000 sq ft premises in Blackburn on October 3rd 2006.

"We had a lucky escape and it was thanks to our people."
